Rambling on...

All right, I decided that I had some time to add a little to out blog, but I warn you it might get pretty random. (kinda like this picture is)

This last month seemed like it would never end, but now that its over I can't tell you where the time all went. Hunting season does that to me, though. Nick went every weekend and then some trying to get an elk with his bow, but the weather just didn't want to cooperate. Too hot for the elk to want to come out and play. Darn it! But I do have my husband back now (Yay!) I can't even begin to describe how much I missed him, even when I went to Driggs with him. I really start to miss those nights when we're home together even when we just sit at home and don't do much. I guess we'll have to see what we can do during rifle season. I'm going to get an elk tag, too. Hopefully we'll be luckier than the last couple of years. I have yet to go on a successful hunt (successful meaning that someone actually shoots an animal and we bring it home). Our freezer is getting pretty low on meat and I'm thinking it might be nice to have some during the next year.
Guess what! For those of you who didn't know, I participated in "The Biggest Loser" at work this last summer and my team won! Yay! I don't remember the exact numbers but all together my team lost a total of 115 pounds. 21 of which were mine and I don't plan on going to look for them. In fact since then, I've lost about 5 more. It's pretty exciting to know that I can do something like this. It makes me feel really good about myself, especially when people notice. I still want to lose about 15 more so I've got to keep it up. A lot of people have asked me how I did it and to be honest it really wasn't that hard. I just made a few small changes. Now days I walk on all of my breaks at work (it's easy to do 1/2 mile in 15 minutes). I make sure I have breakfast so my metabolism can kick in for the day. I rarely eat anything when I'm not hungry and when I do eat, I don't stuff myself as full as I can get, I eat till I'm not hungry anymore. When I snack, I take a serving size instead of eating out of the bag or box so I know how much I'm eating. At first when I started doing this it was kind of a pain because I started to get hungry a lot more often, but because I was giving my body what it needed when it needed it, my stomach shrunk and my metabolism started to work when it was supposed to. I didn't even have to give up the foods I love to eat. That's one reason why I didn't want to try out any diets out there. I knew that even if I stuck with it thru the biggest loser, once it was over I'd start eating what I wanted again and ruin all my hard work. To me losing weight isn't about dieting. It's about changing your lifestyle in a way. Now that I've lost some it's so much easier for me to be more active. In fact, Nick and I went camping in August for his birthday and decided to go on little hike that ended up taking us up a mountain and lasting half the day, but I was so surprised to notice that I wasn't panting the whole way up and having to stop every ten steps. It was great!
Well, I think I've rambled on enough for now. I'll be lucky to have dinner ready by the time Nick gets home. Oh, well! He'll still love me!!
